Upgrading MLP1 Qualifications to MLP2 or MLP3

We (the AHA(WA)) will commence delivering the new elective units MLP2 and MLP3 from 31 August 2015 onwards.

The licensing authority’s (DRGL) minimum training requirement for new licensees and new unrestricted approved managers is the completion of the core unit MLP1 of the Course in Management of Licensed Premises (52473WA).

While the minimum requirement for Qualified Approved Managers is the completion of the core unit MLP1, applicants are strongly encouraged to also complete either a MLP2 or MLP3 unit to gain a greater depth of knowledge.

The Course in Management of Licensed Premises (52473WA) is comprised of the core unit MLP1 and two elective units, MLP2 and MLP3. The core unit, MLP1, covers managing legislative responsibilities for the sale, supply and service of liquor. MLP2 focuses on managing licensed premises for the sale, supply and service of liquor to the general public, while MLP3 focuses on managing licensed premises used for the production or wholesale supply of liquor.

The elective unit MLP2 will suit most of the license types –from Small Bar, Restaurant, Hotel, Tavern etc, whereas the MLP3 elective unit is solely focused on the Production and or Wholesale liquor licences types.

Individuals who complete the elective units MLP2 or MLP3 will strengthen and further develop their knowledge and skills required to manage or supervise licensed premises.

Approved Manager Questions – Getting Your ID Card

Hi All,

In the AHA(WA) Training Department, one of the most popular FAQ’s we receive is from trainees that need to know where to get their Approved Manager ID card.

See below for my answer!

I need to get my Approved Manager ID card, do I get that from the AHA?

The Approved Manager ID card is obtained by applying to the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor. The application process begins on the Departments website and then is completed when you take your application summary to an Australia Post outlet where they will finalise the application process for you.

For general information please call the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor on 08 9425 1888 or www.rgl.wa.gov.au.

For information regarding the Approved Manager process, click here for further information.

We hope this Training Tip helps you when you are at the step of requesting your Approved Manager Card.

The AHA has a dedicated Training FAQ page on their website, so if you need instant information remember to check in there first!
